Sangha's Participation on Archaeological Places Management in Roi-Et Province

Abstract

This research aimed to 1) study the state of archeological sites in Roi-Et province, 2) promote the participation of monks in the management of archeological sites in Roi-Et Province, and 3) propose ways to manage archeological sites by the participation of monks in Roi Et. The research model is qualitative research. Research area is Archaeological sites in Roi Et the the target group is 30 people. The research tools are interview and content analysis by induction method. The research found that: 1) location and environment: monks play a less conservative role in archeology. Both archaeological conservation laws are taboo which are not specified the community to involve and no clear goal. 2) On the personal side: monks do not participate in any personal work because it is a civil service job. It does not relate to monks. 3) Materials: this research aims to study on archeological equipment only not on procurement of materials with the national budget. The results show that monks do not participate in it because it is the duty of the Fine Arts Bureau 4) Budget: the monks do not participate in the management of the national budget. But is involved in the use of seeking and spending the budget for archeological maintenance, only for the restoration with donations from villagers. 5) In cooperation in maintenance: the nature of the archaeological preservation of monks is to take care and not damage them. When it was found that it was damaged or deteriorated, it was notified by the Fine Arts Department Not repair by oneself arbitrarily.
